If you’ve been waiting with bated breath to hear about what’s in the cards next year for Area Stage’s Conservatory, you’re in luck! Though all titles are under consideration, we’ve announced a projected season that will include seven different productions of three exciting musicals that we know will give our students a chance to shine.
As anticipated, in December kicks off our Conservatory Season with The Addams Family: Young@Part for Stages I & II, followed by The Addams Family: Young@Part presented by the students of our Inclusion Theatre Project, which is geared towards providing performing arts training and opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In conjunction with our scheduled Mainstage production of The Addams Family, we are proud to announce that our Student Professional program will be presenting the two-hour long full musical at the Adrienne Arsht Center in February of 2024. This will be followed by two productions of Anastasia the Musical. Our Stage I & II students will participate in Anastasia Youth Edition in April of 2024, and the full-length musical will be presented by our Stage III students in May.
Our third and final title is the Rogers and Hammerstein classic, The Sound of Music, with a Youth Edition and Student professional performances slated for next Summer.
For an overview of each show, rehearsal dates, or to enroll, visit our Conservatory pages here. In the meantime, after beginning our journey under the sea with our recent Inclusion Theatre Project production of The Little Mermaid Jr, we’ll be continuing the fun with our upcoming conservatory production of the same title!
Based on the classic Disney film, this musical story follows the beautiful mermaid Ariel as she decides to trade in her fins for a chance at love and a life on land. The show will be playing only one weekend from July 7-9th, so don’t miss your chance to grab your tickets for this very special production!
