Area Stage’s production of The Little Mermaid is getting off to a swimmingly great start as of this week’s first previews! Not only were audiences amazed by the show, but we captured the interest of several major news outlets, including WTVJ 6, WPLG 10, Telemundo 51, and last but not least, WSVN 7’s entertainment show, Deco Drive. And thanks to Deco Drive’s recently released video feature on the show, anyone who wants to get in the Mermaid mood can now get a sneak peek!
Along with including clips that highlight the production’s unique immersive staging and distinctive visual elements, it also includes interviews with our two leading actors, Josslyn Shaw and Henry Thrasher. Each provided insight into how they see their characters Ariel and Eric, and expressed their enthusiasm for the special impact they believe this version of The Little Mermaid will have on audiences.
“They’re going to be overtaken by everything around them. It’s really going to feel like you are in this world that we’ve created,” Thrasher described.
“The audience is part of the show with us. . . this is something you’ve never seen before, something really amazing,” Shaw weighs in.
In the video, you will also get to hear Thrasher singing a snippet of the haunting love song “Her Voice,” one of the many evocative new numbers that you’ll hear in the show along with all your movie favorites.
As Shaw also notes, if you choose to go under the sea with ASC, you might even get to dance along with the characters and join in all the ocean fun! And with tickets for the rest of the run already going fast, you don’t want to miss your chance to reserve your spot for this truly unforgettable experience.
