ASC Conservatory Student Addison Stone Honored With Prestigious Scholarship

By Ilana Jael

Coming on the heels of Marilyn Caserta’s recent selection for a prestigious Theatre World Award, another ASC student is celebrating a tremendous honor. It was recently announced that ASC conservatory student Addison Stone was selected by the Carbonell Awards committee to receive the Jack Zink Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded each year to three exceptional graduating seniors who plan to pursue theatre or journalism. Recipients are selected based on talent, experience, and demonstrated commitment to their chosen art form, and one student each is selected from Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties.

Shows Addison was a part of at ASC include Aladdin, Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins, Newsies. As per her bio, she later expanded her theatrical participation to playwriting, producing, props, and design—sometimes working both on-stage and back-stage for the same shows! She is also a recipient of a Thespians award for her scenic design of Animal Farm, and founded Singin’ for Smiles, an outreach program dedicated to performing for senior citizens. Addison looks forward to continuing her theatrical training this fall at the University of Michigan.

Given the tremendous drive and talent she’s already displayed, we’re pretty confident she’s headed off to a bright future! Meanwhile, if you plan on attending this year’s Carbonell Awards, you can also feel good about the fact that part of your ticket price will help the committee continue to be able to offer these important scholarships!
